No Code - The Secret Sauce to Your Pivot

It is widely reported that 90% of start-ups ultimately fail, this is made even greater when coupled with the current difficult business environment brought on by the pandemic. Therefore, start-ups need to give themselves the greatest possible start in order to succeed. No code solutions can provide much needed agility and flexibility for start-ups. The dynamic solutions frequently use features like ‘drag and drop’ to build custom platforms, allowing founders to change when needed, without relying on expensive development teams to tear down and rebuild.

Benefits

The benefits to foundations built on a no code or a low code function are huge, one of the main ones being cost. Start-ups and scale-ups are driven by cost decisions; therefore, it is logical to apply the same reasoning when building the base of the offering. It is reported that one of the main reasons start-ups fail is when unexpected costs rise higher than the expected income. Avoiding the high costs brought on by development teams will give start-ups the chance to survive the difficult first 12 months, a milestone 50% of start-ups fail to hit.

In addition to the cost saving no code brings, solutions also afford the start-up immense market flexibility. The first 12 months of a start-up’s life is a period of stabilisation and penetration. They need to find their feet in a fluid market, to be reactive and respond to changing demands they must be able to accommodate change easily and quickly.

Increased Pivoting Capability

As many as 65% of businesses need to pivot in their lifetime, either through choice or necessity. This can be an entire shift of business operations, like Peugeot manufacturing everything from coffee grinders, springs, saws, umbrella frames and bicycles in their lifetime. It can also be a subtle change like North Face shifting from designing and creating climbing gear, to ski gear. The similarity between the two stems from understanding the market in which they belonged to. The reason they are still active, 200 years after conception in Peugeot’s case, is because they were able to adapt and change to fit demand. Pivoting is the hardest task in business, no matter how established a business is, they always need to be able respond to the market.

Pivoting in today’s world is incredibly difficult as markets are saturated and there are established players dominating huge market shares. Start-ups must use their strengths to compensate for their lack of customer base and large funding, they must use innovative solutions to respond to demand and change immediately when required to.  No code options can help businesses get up and out of the mud when the situation changes, whereas those with custom built offerings will always be stuck trying to push a rock up a hill.

Building offerings using malleable solutions gives start-ups the advantage over businesses who are slow to react.
